Overview:
We are currently seeking a General Machinist to join our team to work in the Laboratory. The ideal candidate will have a machining background.
Hours of work:
Monday - Friday 7:30 - 16:00
This is a full-time position based in Wednesbury.
The General Machinist will be responsible performing day to day machining of sample test pieces.
Responsibilities:
- Machining samples to international testing criteria
- Operating, Setting and Programming CNC and XYZ machines.
- Programming wire Eroder machine to produce impact specimens.
- Maintaining the CNC and XYZ Machines for day-to-day use.
- Operating milling machine to produce impact specimens.
- Operating surface grinder machine to produce impact specimens.
- Operating the saw for cutting specimens.
Experience:
- Experience of operating general machines or experience within a toolroom environment (Advantageous).
- Good understanding of customer specifications/machining skills and testing criteria.
- Must possess a good understanding of general machining practices.
- Understanding ASTM/BS EN Requirements for machines test samples (Not essential but desirable)
- Good understanding of customer specifications/machining skills and testing criteria.
- You will have been responsible for the quality of your own work
- The successful candidate will need to have experience operating machinery and working in a metal manufacturing (Essential).
Requirements:
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as under own initiative
- Ability to implement and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Ability to implement and ensure compliance following health and safety procedures.
- High level of honesty and integrity
- Good level of interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail
Full training will be required to the successful candidate.
Salary will be negotiated depending on experience.
