A Cover Supervisor maintains classroom learning in the absence of the regular teacher, implementing pre-set work and ensuring pupils remain focused and engaged throughout the lesson. The role involves supervising students, managing behaviour in line with school policy, recording attendance, and reporting any concerns to relevant staff members. Cover Supervisors work across multiple year groups and subjects, so adaptability and confidence in managing diverse classroom environments are essential. The ideal candidate will be calm, authoritative, and able to build positive relationships with students of all abilities. Previous experience working in a school setting and a working knowledge of child safeguarding procedures are required. A relevant qualification in education support or a degree-level education is advantageous.
